About
Dr Janine Potgieter
MBChB (Pret); Dip (Obs); FCOG (SA); Mmed (OetG)(Pret)
Practice Number: 0501662; HPCSA: MP0638315; SASOG Member
Janine describes herself as feminine, loyal, creative, outspoken, honest and a little feisty! However, the tough cookie exterior hides a sincere nature and a sensitive soul. She loves being a wife and mother but feels incomplete without her daily dose of being a career woman! Her life motto is to do justly, to love mercy and walk humbly (Micah 6: 8).
As a doctor she strives to be meticulous, hardworking, dedicated, skilful and knowledgeable. Her profession is her calling and she wants to render her patients with compassionate, gentle and individualised care. She loves to share her knowledge by taking time to explain matters and strongly dislikes a paternalistic approach to decision making. She sincerely aims to make everyone feel welcome and to never leave feeling that they are “just a number”.

The Practice
The practice is affectionately known as The Pink Palace, (for obvious reasons!), and is lovingly filled with all the small things that make Janine's heart happy! She is quite sentimental and treasures things that tell a story. The atmosphere is cheerful and created to make every one feel welcome and cared for. Dr. Janine Potgieter admits, operates and delivers exclusively at Life Wilgers Hospital in Pretoria. The maternity unit has recently been refurbished and boasts gorgeous suites which also accommodates new dads.
The neonatal ICU is a state of the art facility.
Philosophy
Janine chose to specialise in Obstetrics and Gynaecology as she is passionate about womanhood and all its unique seasons. She adores forming long-term relationships with patients and their families. She believes women should only be loved and not understood!

Spring
“One is not born a woman, but blossoms into womanhood”
Spring women are adolescents or young women and brides who are still forming lasting relationships, completing their education or starting out careers.
They require contraceptives that suit their lifestyles and regular screening for common gynaecological conditions.
Summer
“The moment a child is born, a mother is born too. She has never existed before”
Summer women bear the ultimate fruit of womanhood – motherhood! From the gentle flutter of tiny feet, the beautiful growing baby bump, right up to delivery and the miraculous moment of holding her baby for the first time - pregnancy is truly a rite of passage.
They deserve dedicated, tender pregnancy care and safe deliveries as healthy mothers and babies are the ultimate reward.
Autumn
“Through the years she has learnt that there is no way to be a perfect mother, but a million ways to be a good one”
Autumn women are the glue that keeps their families together, they take care of aging parents and growing children all while fulfilling the demands of their own careers. They selflessly shed leaves of love that can leave their own branches bare.
They need a lot of compassion, safe and reliable contraception and individualised care of the menopause.

Winter
“Growing old is an attitude”
Winter women are the ladies with silver in their hair and wisdom in their hearts. They may finally be able to tick off a few bucket list items, being retired with all their chicks out of the nest. They are usually doting grandmothers who occasionally still paint their toenails blue! Their bare branches are like open arms for those in need of comfort, wisdom and peace.
They require care that is tailored to other medical conditions and screening for gynaecological malignancies.Testimonials
